Unwritten, congregational 'rules'
by Thetruthhurts inwhat were some of yours?
the big one in our hall was no frontal hugs!
these were generally thought of as inappropriate, only side hugs should be given between sisters and brothers.

Dr Who - you've helped me to figure out what was different about my cong so I stayed in.
We had two sister congregations in my area. One was like yours (the picnic one). I did not recognise that congregation as Christian. I could see there was something seriously wrong with it. But the congregation I joined was really nice. Yes, it had been a place of bullies, but they had died off, leaving many kind hearted souls who were at worst naive and a few savvy elders. Also, ones moving from teens to young adulthood who did their own thing.
The savvy elders did deceive me, but they could be very kind.
I guess it didn't last more than a few years like that. Then a CO came along, saw the bad state of the sister congregation, the happy state of ours and mixed all the elders up. The result, my ex-cong gradually became as horrible as the sister cong and I got kicked out last year (2019).

I was once kindly given a lot of eggs and wanted to share them with the others. So I took them to our KH and went out into one of the back rooms where I handed them out. Free.
Next thing is I am getting told off for SELLING eggs at the KH. I said, "I'm not selling them I am giving them out." I didn't get told off but I sensed the disapproval. So I never did such a thing again.

Do they get punctures?
Wonder if it comes with an oxyacetylene torch? Fed up publishers could make creative sculptures. -

Slimboy I can tell you what happened when a recent visitor to my ex-cong did that. They were grabbed by a bully (aka elder) and told, "we are not here to enjoy ourselves." It was said with a smile, of course.
He should have added, "we are here to be bored senseless."
Vidiot - glad you made it out :)
Pale Emperor - it has now been forbidden for anyone to bring back the love of a congregation. Watchtower-love (be it agape, philial or storge) comes from top down, it doesn't go sideways. It's not like Ezekiel's Chariot.

Jofi-Wofo - How democracy will flourish when they take over the world. :/
Is that what's called a police state?
A little more on the chairs (UK). I can't remember the details exactly but chairs in a local congregation were removed and replaced from with a limited number of chairs. Concerned about the limited seating, someone asked if they could buy some more chairs. They were told no, because they were so expensive. The money for one chair could pay for a whole congregation-full of chairs in Africa.
This was puzzling and left some wondering why the chairs weren't being bought from Africa in the first place. -

A recent one - they sussed out that people turn up late for the meetings. Soooo.... they took away the chairs. At one point it was like musical chairs, if you didn't get there early enough, you didn't get a chair.
They kept just enough chairs in the main hall based on regular attendance numbers. You turn up late, you go into the back room and watch it all on telly.
They muffed it as usual, even fewer people came. Imagine it, one vast hall with one tiny row of chairs. Ok I exaggerate but it did backfire.

How do you feel about the JWS religion after being out more than 10, 20, 30 years ?
by Finkelstein inmyself being a born in and completely out for more than 30 years i see more of the damage of what this religious cult causes people .. part of myself leaving had to do with the psychological harm it was causing people back in the 1970's, one guy my age at the time hung himself out anxiety and depression.. the numerous suicides that have occurred in numbers is shocking to say the least.. then there is the many families breaking up.. marriages breaking apart because one member decides to leave the jws.. the deaths of members or their children from refusing a blood transfusion.. this hit me personally when my mother refused a bt when she was ill in the hospital and died.. over the years and observing all of these things reminds me how glad and fortunate i left when i did but i do find it responsible to others to expose this religious cult to what can happen to people who get involved with it and that's what i've been doing on this forum and elsewhere.

I can understand people's feeling of utter betrayal.
I was lied to when I studied - I think they must have spent years trying to put on a good act to continue trying to fool me. While I didn't know much it worked but I'm a helpful soul and got the impression they appreciated my help. So I did all the stand in talks, properly, you know using the scriptures and making the right points. What I didn't realise was, they didn't like this. Not really. But in my helpfulness (doing these talks) I saw through the false teachings. So I blew the whistle. Nice and loud. Again, I thought I was helping them and the false doctrine simply originated with some fuddled headed chap at HQ who'd got his scriptures twiddled.
But no.
So in the end (having given them 14 years) I disfellowshipped the Governing Body because I had evidence they were ignoring my expressions of deep concern and I could see the horrendous damage they were doing on so many levels. All sorts of things that the Bible condemns. Yes, they threw me shortly after, but by then I had already told them they'd been disfellowshipped and done my best to make sure I had informed the congregations far and wide.
Happily this has had a good effect on many locally and encouraged them to leave without causing them the terrible psychological damage that has happened to others.

JWs closer to Islam than to Christianity.
by Lost in the fog inok, so i know that the following article is from a roman catholic church blogger, but i thought that his ratios and comparisons were very well set out, if anyone else is interested.

I found that most if not all the WT false doctrines go back to Theo Sufism. The Whirling Dervish are Sufists - they spin and spin till they are so dizzy they feel no pain. How very like WT who get people busier and busier so they no longer think for themselves and are willing to follow instructions coming from GB that do not appear sensible.
Theo Sufism has connections to the Mafia via a man called Mazzini (1800s) who was involved in establishing both Theo Sufism and the Mafia. Mazzini was in with Garibaldi. They were both members of the Carbonari and wanted to unite Italy. I believe the composer Verdi was greatly admired by them. Verdi wrote Nabucco - aka Nebuchadnezzar
Guess they wanted to get back to the good old days of the Roman Empire when Italy was all one.

by waton inthis week's, 2-10- 2020 jesus lesson 103, parables of the fig tree, prematurely spreading leafs, cursed because of raising false expectations.
what a perfectly fitting facsimile for the fruitless fiction that the wt corporation has produced during "christ's presence" .
!8xy, 1914, 1925, 1975, 2000, 2075. by their [prophetic] fruits you will know them, or the figurative fig leafs, not even covering the bare wt facts.

When I was translating one of my video into Spanish I found out that the Return of Christ in Spanish can be translated as the Lap of Christ. Like he's a runner who completes his lap and returns.
But they've got him running round the track endlessly. In their book he can invisibly return any number of times at any new date they pick.
